NEWSLETTER - Winter 2002News and NoteworthyDecember 5, 2002To all of our friends….Just an update on our fight with the DEP. Well, it took them 5 months to give us a “guilty”. That meant that in order to appeal we had to shell out 700 dollars. No one in our small bar thinks that this administration cares a hoot about small business. I go to court again, for a re-issued ticket (yes, you heard that right…re-issued) this coming Tuesday, December 10th.We all know we are going to lose, because despite all of our efforts to sound proof, keep the door closed and keep everything musically reasonable, we have been deemed “Guilty”. This appears as the Mayor’s way of gaining revenue. All of these tickets were issued under 220B, and it is not necessary for them to use a sound meter. When I have asked “what is your criteria? Your proof? Your proof that on several Fridays in the summer at 10pm , I am louder than the outdoor cafes? That Boudoir Bar (and at that time The East End Ensemble) is louder, than all of the other live, beautiful happening on this street which took 9 years to build?” There has never been an answer, just a fine. I am going to have a benefit soon to help me pay the over $2000. dollars that I have had to shell out personally for this violation against my civil liberties as a small business owner and a woman.Come to our Holiday Party on December 20th. We have an open bar 6-7:30, Jazz by the Bruce Rose /John Valeri band, Burlesque by Lady Ace at 10pm, and an auction to help us in our fight to stay alive as a performing arts studio/wine bar. 10 DOLLAR ADMISSION, AND PLEASE BRING A SECRET SANTA GIFT WRAPPED (under 5 dollars)…Lots o love, Garrett mcconnell Boudoir Bar, the sexiest lil bar in Brooklyn
